Why is the District replacing water lines?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]Over the last 10 years, there have been over 13 waterline breaks in the Roxborough Village on Telluride Court, Westside Street, Telluride Street, Westside Circle and Telluride Place. These waterline breaks have occurred, at all times of day, due to the high corrosive nature of soil in the area. Breaks in a pipeline can also cause water quality issues such as brown water to occur.[/su_expand]

Why can’t the District just wait until the pipelines break?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]Waiting until they break means water outages happen without notice for residents in the area, pipeline breaks can happen at any time of night or on holidays, treated water is wasted, significant road damage can occur, resulting in expensive emergency repairs. That’s why the District has budgeted for 3,000 feet of the most corroded water pipes to be replaced in 2018.[/su_expand]

If I live on Telluride Court, Westside Street, Telluride Street or Westside Circle, will my water be shut off?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]For homes located on these streets, there will be a short interruption (approximately 30 minutes) while the temporary water system is connected to each house. After the main water can be reinstated, there will be another short interruption (approximately 30 minutes) to disconnect the temporary water system.[/su_expand]

How long will the project take?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]The construction is expected to last from mid-April to mid-September, during which time temporary water pipes (see PowerPoint for visuals) will be installed at each home in the area.[/su_expand]

Will this project affect my sewage (wastewater) pipelines?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]No, this project is only for water pipeline replacements and thus will not affect the removal of sewage from your home.[/su_expand]

How will the project prevent corrosion of the replacement pipelines?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]The District will combat corrosion in a couple ways: Sacrificial anodes attached to pipe so anodes decay prior to pipe. This system is typically designed for a 50 to 100 year anode decay life; and by installing of PVC pipe.[/su_expand]

How will we be notified?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]For homes located in the area where the pipeline replacements will be occurring there will be a posted 48-hour notice. A District or contractor representative will also be going door-to-door approximately 30 minutes to an hour prior to the water shutoff. Updates will also be posted to this website.[/su_expand]

Will the construction be disruptive?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]Yes, the construction will be very disruptive, inconvenient, loud and messy. Roads will have temporary uneven driving surfaces, windblown dust may occur, and there will be construction noises during the weekday. [/su_expand]

What about parking my car?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]To make construction go easily and to protect the cars, street parking will be unavailable in the vicinity of where the crews are working. Any cars parked on driveways or in a garage, will not have access to the street for up to 8 hours. There will be road signs indicating where parking on the streets is prohibited.[/su_expand]

What are the construction hours?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]The hours will be from 8am until 5pm. During nights and weekend, segments of the roads will be closed to through traffics and open only to traffic of residents in the area. There will be no flaggers or lights to direct traffic on nights and weekends.[/su_expand]

When will the roadway repaving occur after the construction is done?
[su_expand more_text=”Click to Expand” less_text=”Show less” height=”0″ hide_less=”no” text_color=”#333333″ link_color=”#8B0e04″ link_style=”default” link_align=”left”]Roadway paving will not occur until 2-3 months after the start of the construction.[/su_expand]
